I can’t believe I’m halfway through Blogmas 2018 already, where has this month gone?! I’m very happy that I managed to finish all of my Christmas shopping today and now it is just a case of wrapping my presents and writing cards for my extended family and neighbours. For the past few years I have wrapped my presents in brown paper and used ribbons and decorations to make them look more festive. I am planning on doing the same this year and half already bought some amazing red and white ribbons, including sequin ribbon which I have never used before – I’m so excited about it! I also found out this year that traditional wrapping paper is not recyclable which is even more reason to jump on the brown paper trend and buck the cheap wrapping paper which ends up on landfills every year.
I wanted to take you all through a few items on my wish list this year and potentially give you all some last minute gift inspiration.
Ancestry DNA Test Kit
Since these DNA tests hit the mainstream, I have been really interested in my makeup and where my history lies. I know I have clear links to Ireland on my mum’s side, but other than that I have no idea where my family’s heritage is from. I have discussed this with my mum for quite some time now and she has promised that this will be one of my gifts this year. I am so excited to find out where I am from and to learn more about where my ancestors came from. I am aware that there are a lot of companies offering this service now, however, I chose to go with Ancestry because they put with in connection with long lost family members if they have also used the service, and it would be phenomenal to speak to those I have blood connections with around the world.
Ban.do 2019 Agenda – Large
I treated myself to the 2018 agenda in the January sales last year and honestly don’t know where I wouldn’t been without it this year. Granted, I could use any planner, but I love how motivated and productive this planner has made me. There’s plenty of space to write to do lists every day, and with space for notes each month, I like to note down what has been successful and what has made me happy every month. Each month comes with a new illustration done by a different female artist, all of whom are credited with their websites and social media information towards the back. I also find the stickers are brilliant for marking important days visually, and the list of celebratory days of the year are perfect for any marketer, especially on social media or in PR.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
I received this mascara in an ASOS beauty box a few months ago and absolutely fell in love. I had heard the hype for a few years but generally stuck to either Benefit or Revlon for my mascara. Since becoming more ethical with my beauty choices, I decided to give this mascara a go and I am so glad I did. The wand perfectly separates my lashes and provides ultimate volume whilst boosting the length which often makes my lashes look like I am wearing the best falsies you have ever seen. Now I have started using Better Than Sex on a regular basis, I don’t ever think I could go back to using another brand. I would possibly give another Too Faced mascara a go, but why change an already amazing thing?
Anyone who knows me well knows that I am a huge jumper fiend when it comes to the colder months. You’d be extremely hard pressed to find me in anything else but a jumper and jeans when it comes down to choosing a casual outfit from October to mid March most years. I am currently living in this gorgeous white, black and orange oversized number from ASOS which is deceptively toasty, but for me, anything goes as long as it isn’t too tight, too long, or too itchy (there is nothing worse than itchy wool). I do have a tendency this year for patterned jumpers, especially 90s inspired patterns; even better if it’s an actual 90s find in a vintage clothes or charity shop! I am seriously hoping that I find a gorgeous woolly surprise under the tree this year, and if not, I will be sure to treat myself in the sales to a luxurious jumper or five to keep me warm for the remainder of winter.
What are you hoping to find under your tree this year – anything out of the ordinary you have been dropping hints about?
